Whimstay integration

Whimstay is a leading marketplace for last-minute vacation rentals, helping property managers boost occupancy and revenue while offering travelers great deals. Guests can browse and book properties through their site or app, make a payment, and enjoy significant savings.

With the Whimstay integration, you can automatically export your listings, rates, and availability, filling gap nights and off-peak vacancies. This increases your booking requests and provides exposure to travelers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

⚠ Important: Only rentals in the following countries are compatible with the integration with Whimstay: United States, Mexico, Canada and parts of the Caribbean. All transactions are performed in USD

Requirements

In order to be able to connect Lodgify with Whimstay, you need to fulfil a set of requirements:

  • It is necessary to have an account set up on Whimstay. Please click here to create an account.
  • You must have the same number of rentals on Lodgify and on Whimstay. You will be able to choose which ones you want to propose or not.
  • The integration will not be possible with the bookable units feature active.

Set up the connection between Lodgify and Whimstay

The connection will be established on the Whimstay side, before your onboarding call. You will be asked to send your Lodgify API key to hostsupport@whimstay.com ; you can find here where to get it.

After the integration is established, your listings will either be imported from Lodgify into your Whimstay account, or connected if they already exist.

Once the connection is complete, do not forget to remove your iCal links on Whimstay if you had some.

All amenities are imported.

Address, Zipcode & Directions

The address will be imported, unless you've turned on "hide address from my website" in Lodgify. If you did, Whimstay will ask you to manually enter the rental address.

Photos

Whimstay has a limit of 40 photos, with 5 photos minimum.

Rates, availability & restrictions

The following rate settings, availability, and restrictions will be exported to Whimstay:

💡 Note:  You will no longer be able to edit your Whimstay calendar manually, calendar must be edited from Lodgify.
Rates ✔️ The standard and seasonal rates will be exported.
💡 Note:  You will no longer be able to access your Whimstay Rates tab, they will be managed from Lodgify.
Bookability You can use Instant booking only.
Payments

Whimstay is the merchant of record, all the payments will be managed on Whimstay.

💡 Note: If you have multiple properties you can add multiple bank accounts so that bookings from specific properties can be paid into specific accounts.

Cancellation policy For bookings 0-60 days from check-in no cancelations or refunds are permitted. For bookings more than 60 days away from check-in, please email: support@whimstay.com to inquire if the property is eligible for cancelation.

Damage protection

 Whimstay proposes its own damage protection.
Currency The currency is managed on Whimstay.

Discounts ✔️

Flat and percentage discounts set for the Lodgify website will be exported. On the guest side, there won't be a visible indication of a promotion, but the price will take the discount into account.

Important: The Whimstay discount for last-minute bookings, applicable to the last 29 days before check-in, is applied on top of the Lodgify rate, which already includes any promotions set on Lodgify.
For example, if your rental rate is $200 per night and you have a 5% discount on Lodgify, Whimstay will apply its minimum 10% discount to the reduced rate of $190.
 

💡 Note: Promotion codes are not supported currently.

Rental Agreement The booking confirmation emails inform the guests that they may be asked to sign your rental agreement to confirm their reservation or provide a valid photo ID. If you have a rental agreement, you can send it to your guests after they book.
Mark-up Mark-ups are not supported.
Reviews Reviews are not supported; you cannot export your reviews from Lodgify to Whimstay, and any Whimstay reviews cannot be pushed to Lodgify.
Security deposit

 

 

If you have your own existing security deposit, it will need to be included in the pricing. If not, you can choose one of the Whimstay options.

Synchronizations: what is sent to Lodgify

The following information will be exported to Lodgify:

Bookings Reservations will be exported to Lodgify, but if a guest needs to make any modifications to their reservations, either you or the guest should reach out to Whimstay.
💡 Note: Whimstay bookings are not subject to 1% transaction fee, or any booking fee
Bookings modifications If any reservation details are made on Lodgify that affect the cost, Whimstay will receive a notification and update the reservation on their side and push the new details back to Lodgify
Booking status

All reservations will come through as bookings without a quote with the booking status “booked”.
The total amount will show as $0 on the reservation, but you can see the pricing breakdown in the messaging thread. Therefore, Whimstay reservations are not included in the reports but you can access Whimstay reports.

💡 Important: You should not add a quote manually, or this will change the booking status to “tentative” and your guest will be sent an email requesting an additional payment.

Booking details

Whimstay will send the following reservation details:

    • guest phone number
    • number of guests
    • dates of stay

The source of the booking will appear as Public API.

Inbox All communication will need to be done with the guest via email and from Lodgify.
