Edit channel configurations for VRBO

If your rental is connected to VRBO / Homeaway / Abritel / FeWo-direkt via the Channel Manager, you can see for which room types (and IDs) the connection is set up, and unpublish the listing from VRBO on the rental's Sync settings in Lodgify.

💡 Note: All explanations about VRBO also apply to their sister companies Abritel, Homeaway and FeWo-direkt.

Edit channel settings

To configure these channel-specific settings, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your left-hand menu and select Rentals.
  2. Choose the rental you want to edit and go to Sync settings.
  3. In the section HomeAway API, you can see which HomeAway /VRBO listing is connected to this Lodgify rental.
    💡 Note: If you want to connect a new rental, please get in touch with our Connectivity Team.

Minimum age You must specify the minimum age allowed for the primary renter.

Custom Headline/
Rental Headline

VRBO requires a minimum of 20 characters for the listing title. If the rental title does not meet the requirements, then you need to add a Custom Headline. Otherwise, you can leave the section unchanged to use the Rental Headline.
 Status

When a rental has the status published, then the channel manager is active and VRBO is able to read the contents of the configuration files associated. A published listing does not mean that the listing is live on VRBO.

If the rental has the status unpublished, then the configuration files cannot be read by Vrbo and the listing cannot be activated in the channel.

💡 Note: Whenever you change the status of the rental, or if you have recently added a new rental, the status can show pending for VRBO update until the synchronization occurs. This can take up to 24 hours if no errors are detected.  

 Hide Directions Tick the checkbox if you don't want to share the content of the directions section from Lodgify with Vrbo.
New listing promotion

If your listing is new on Vrbo, you can apply a 20% discount to the first three bookings. This helps attract guests and improve your visibility in search results.
When a guest makes a booking on Vrbo, they will see the promotion applied during the checkout process, and you will be able to view the promotion details in the reservation breakdown.

💡 Note: To qualify for the promotion, your listing must:

  • Be active on Vrbo for no more than 90 days
  • Have fewer than three bookings.
  • Have received fewer than three reviews.
  •  

Do not forget to click Save after making your changes.

Change the percentage adjustment that will be applied to the base rate sent to your OTA (Airbnb, Booking.com...). You can use the mark-up to increase or decrease the price sent to the OTA and to counterbalance, for example, the OTA commission.

  • Example:
    Base price in Lodgify: $100 per night
    Mark-up: 15%
    ➡ Base price in the OTA: $115 per night
