Accept credit card payments

Authorize.Net, Braintree, Stripe, and Payyo are payment gateways that allow you to accept all major credit cards online. We strongly recommend accepting credit cards as it will enhance your website's credibility and is the most convenient form of payment for your guests. Furthermore, credit card payments offer you a variety of further functionalities to automize your day-to-day processes. Requirements and conditions for the gateways

Before connecting those payment gateways to Lodgify, check the following: 

  1. In some countries, one or more payment gateways might not be available. Check out which payment gateway is available in which countries. ๐Ÿ’ก Note: You won't see Authorize.Net and Braintree in your account if your billing address is in the EU.
    • Authorize.Net is available in Australia, Canada, and the United States.
    • Braintree
    • Stripe
    • Payyo is available on request for account holders in the US and EU
      ๐Ÿ’ก Note: Payyo does not support Owner payments.
    • Although Paypal is not considered a credit card gateway, check out where it is available.
  2. You must have an existing merchant account in the credit card gateway to be able to connect it to Lodgify.
  3. Review the commissions for receiving payments through Authorize.NetBraintree, and Stripe.

How to activate a credit card gateway on your website

To set up credit card payments:

  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Settings.
  2. In the left navigation panel click Payments
  3. Activate credit card payments.
  4. A slide-in window appears. Follow the table below select Stripe, Authorize.Net, or Braintree.

  • From the Other Payment gateways drop-down menu, select Authorize.Net
  • Add your credentials (API Key and List ID) and click Connect.

  • From the Other Payment gateways drop-down menu, select Braintree
  • Add your Braintree credentials (Merchant Account ID, Merchant ID, Public Key, and Private Key) and click Connect.



โš ๏ธ Payyo is only available for property owners and on request.

  • From Credit Card, select Payyo.
  • Then click Activate Payyo. For further details on Payyo and the next steps of the connection process, check out this article.


  • From Credit Card, click Stripe.
  • Click Continue and then click Connect. You will be redirected automatically to Stripe. If you already have a Stripe account then click Sign in with Stripe to connect, if you don't have an account yet, go to Sign up in the top right corner. Then follow the instructions.
Once the connection with your payment gateways is set up, your guests will be able to fill in their credit card details directly on the check-out page.

๐Ÿ’ก Note: You will be charged a 1% + VAT Transaction Fee by Lodgify for each payment received via Stripe, and a 1% Transaction Fee for each payment received via Authorize.Net, and Braintree, and Paypal.  This transaction fee is charged so we can continuously work on offering more value-adding payment-related features for you. For Stripe only: If you prefer to pay a monthly flat fee instead, sign up for Stripe Premium.

You can also leave us feedback on which payment portal you would like to have available in the future.  Other Payment Gateways provides a list of possible alternative portals we are considering implementing in the future. Just select your preferred gateway, click ContinueRequest Access, and then fill out the short questionnaire!

Configure your credit card settings

You can also configure some additional settings in your credit card section in Lodgify. To do so, go to your credit card section in your Payment Settings, and click on the pencil icon next to your activated credit card gateway. A slide-in window will appear where you can configure your credit card settings.

Scheduled Payment

You can decide to take the first, or all scheduled payments directly from the credit card without sending manual or automatic payment requests.

๐Ÿ’ก Note: If you are switching from Paypal to credit card payments, Scheduled Payment does not apply to existing bookings.

Scheduled Refunds

You can decide if you want to automatically refund a prepayment in case of cancellation, according to the settings in your cancellation policy.

You need to switch on only in the case that you accept Booking Requests and want to charge the credit card directly when accepting the booking. Find out more in Use cases for booking requests.

Damage Deposit

You can pre-authorize your guest's credit card to temporarily hold (not charge) the amount of the damage deposit on your guest's card. Find out more about Pre-Authorize credit cards for damage deposits (Premium Feature).

๐Ÿ”Ž Use case: What happens if you change from Payyo to Stripe?

If you are connected to Payyo but want to change your credit card payment gateway to Stripe, you can do so. Just go to your payment settings and activate Stripe as a payment gateway.
โš  Important: For all bookings that have pending transactions, the payment request will not happen automatically in this case, as the new payment gateway (Stripe) has not yet stored the guest's credit card information. Therefore, you will need to send the guest a manual payment request. All new transactions will be handled automatically via Stripe.
