Lodgify runs HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) and SSL (Secure Socket Layers) encryption certificates to keep your vacation rental site secure and to boost your SEO.
Most SSL errors come from missing DNS records in your linked domain. If you’re using an external domain connected to Lodgify, follow these steps:
- Go to your Website Builder, then select Settings and Domains.
- If your domain displays an Action required message, click the three-dot icon next to your domain and select Domain security.
Follow the instructions there to update your DNS records as needed. - If no warning appears, click the three-dot icon next to your domain, select Verify status, and check whether an Action required message shows up afterward.
💡 Note: Make sure to use an HTTPS protocol if you put HTML, CSS or JavaScript codes into the Lodgify console in these cases:
- You use tracking tools such as Google Analytics.
- You tailor the design of your web pages.
- You display external widgets such as the weather forecast in your site.
💡 Note: If you include HTTP content in our HTTPS pages, then you are forcing mixed content to run. This means that the initial HTML is loaded over a secure HTTPS connection, but other resources such as images or stylesheets are loaded over an insecure HTTP connection. Depending on the web browsers, your content may then be blocked and your website may appear broken to users.
⚠ Important: Default Lodgify domain names such as 'username.lodgify.com' will return an error message if you place 'www.' in front of the domain name. Simply remove the 'www.' from the domain name and your Lodgify website should load properly.
