If you have a domain with an external domain host such as Godaddy, Google Domains, or 1&1, you can link the domain to your Lodgify website. This applies if you previously already had a website and want to keep your old domain. It also applies if you have a monthly subscription and have to register your custom domain with an external provider. In case you want to have several domain names, you also need to follow this process.
💡 Note: If you have a yearly or bi-yearly subscription, you can also register a domain with Lodgify or transfer your existing domain to Lodgify. Learn here how to upgrade your subscription.
Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner, select Website builder and Settings.
Then, choose the version you see on your account:

⚠ IMPORTANT: Every domain showing your Lodgify website will have SSL certificates to secure your website issued by us once the DNS settings are fully propagated (this can take up to 48hrs). You do not need to purchase it from a 3rd party. If your domain seems to be set up correctly but does not have an SSL certificate after that time, check your domain for CAA records, as they inhibit our SSL certificates.

Link your domain and change your DNS settings
To link a domain from an external provider with your Lodgify website, you need to edit the settings of both, your DNS Manager where your domain is hosted, and your Lodgify account.
⚠ IMPORTANT: Please ensure to follow the entire procedure of linking your domain, as it will only work if the setup is completed in Lodgify and your domain provider.
In order to link your domain or change your DNS settings, go to your Main Menu in the top left corner, select Website builder and Settings.
💡 Note: If you already linked your domain name and just want to update your DNS settings, go to the step 3.
- In Lodgify, in the Settings tab, select Domain, and click Link existing domain.
-
A pop-up window appears. Enter your domain address, review the configuration settings, and click Accept.
💡 Note: The check-box to link a subdomain is only relevant if you are using our Search Bar widget on an external website and want to connect the All Properties page to a subdomain (e.g. bookings.yourdomain.com) to seamlessly integrate the widget in your external website.
The rest is done on the domain provider side. Each domain provider works slightly differently. So please make sure you get in touch with their support team if the information provided below doesn't add up, or you can't get the domain to work correctly.
To set up your DNS records correctly to point your domain to your new Lodgify website, you need to follow these steps: - Go to your domain provider and find the section to manage your DNS Settings.
-
Here you will need to set up two A records:
- Set up one of the A records as www.yourdomain.com pointing to IP address: 104.155.59.202 (sometimes your domain name will already be filled in and you only need to add www or @)
- Set up the second A record as yourdomain.com (no www) pointing to IP address: 104.155.59.202
-
Make default domain:
Useful information
In the following links, you will find instructions on how and where to set up these records in the most common domain providers:
The TTL solely determines the Time-To-Live for the record in caching, so it is important to set this up to a minimum value possible on your domain providers DNS settings page.
Please ensure that there are no other A-records with these names (www.yourdomain.com and yourdomain.com). As well, please make sure that there are no CNAME records with these names or any AAAA, CAA, or DNSSEC records.
The nameservers should always be provided by the domain host. This means that no changes to the nameservers are necessary when linking your domain to your Lodgify site.
It may take a few hours before the DNS changes become effective. If after 48h you still receive the following error message, check your A records, they may have been set up incorrectly. If you need further help, simply contact us.
Link more than one domain to your website
You can also link more than one domain to your website. Maybe you had a different domain on your old website and don't want to give it up because your guests know this one so well, or you simply want to have an additional one.
🔎 Example: Facebook, for example, has more than one domain, you can get to your Facebook site by typing in www.fb.com or www.facebook.com, both redirect to the same page (with default domain www.facebook.com).
If you have a monthly subscription and want to link more than one domain to your website, simply follow the same steps as for the first domain. Once both domains are linked, decide which one you want to use as the default one and which one will be your secondary domain, so when a guest types in your second domain, they will automatically be redirected to your default one.

- If you miss this step, this page will show up instead of your website:
- If you have a yearly or bi-yearly subscription, you can register one directly in Lodgify and link the second one.
- The two arrows in front of the domain name (see above) show that a domain is linked to your website and not registered in Lodgify.

- In the Settings tab, choose Domain, and then click on Link existing domain.

Update your DNS Settings:
- Click on the three dots next to the domain name you’d like to update the DNS settings, and on Domain security.

You will arrive at the DNS settings page, where you'll find instructions to follow on your domain provider's side. Each domain provider works slightly differently. So please make sure you get in touch with their support team if the information provided below doesn't add up, or you can't get the domain to work correctly. Follow the instructions provided on Lodgify:
- Copy and paste the CNAME and TXT values into your domain provider's DNS settings page.
We recommend that you have the minimum TTL's set on all the records. - You will need to add 2 A record entries. Create them on your domain provider's DNS settings page by copying and pasting the following IP address, 162.159.128.68, for both entries
- Remove the old A records that are shown on the Lodgify’s settings page.
- You have to go through this process in this order. Not following this order may cause your website to be inaccessible.
- Once you have changed the records, some checks will be processed, taking a couple of minutes. These checks help validate whether the changes you made to the TXT, CNAME, and A records were successful. If you pasted the TXT, CNAME, and A record values into your domain provider several hours after starting the flow on the Lodgify side, the checks can take up to 4 hours. You can read more about the validation process and expected durations, especially if the verification takes more than 4 hours.
- If you're transitioning from the previous Lodgify DNS settings to the new DNS settings, your website will remain accessible throughout the process. The steps are configured to ensure continuous browsing of your website during the transition.
- If you delete your A record before adding new A records, you will lose access to your website. It is better to add the new A records and then delete the old A records.
- You can modify your CNAME and TXT records, but it is better to add new ones and then delete the old ones to avoid caching.
- Copy and paste the CNAME and TXT values into your domain provider's DNS settings page.
