VRBO
Three types of reservations exist on VRBO:
-
Platform reservations: These are the reservations received from HomeAway/VRBO before the integration with Lodgify was finalized.
These bookings must be managed in HomeAway/VRBO. -
Software switch: These are reservations that were received through another channel manager before the connection with Lodgify and converted to VRBO. Learn here how to convert the reservation into an HomeAway/VRBO booking.
These bookings must be managed in Lodgify. -
Integrated reservations: These are the reservations received from HomeAway/VRBO after the integration with Lodgify was finalized.
These bookings must be managed in Lodgify.
For VRBO reservations received after the integration with Lodgify was finalized (Integrated reservations), and for those converted to VRBO and mapped by a VRBO agent (Software switch reservations), here is how their management works:
Manage VRBO Booking Changes on Lodgify
Booking changes need to be managed directly in Lodgify.
To change booking dates or edit a quote, follow the instructions provided in this article to apply the guest's change request.
💡 Note: While it may take some time for VRBO to update this change, as long as the connection is active, the primary information to be taken into account is the information in Lodgify.
Manually add the mark-up, short stay price, or extra charge per guest to an existing quote
If you have a booking that was initially created in VRBO and you want to make changes to the quote, remember that when modifying the quote, the mark-up will not be added automatically. You will then need to add the mark-up, short stay price, or an extra charge per guest manually to the quote.
🔎 Let's look at an example for this one:
The price of the night is $100 on Lodgify, I have a short stay price of $50 and a mark-up of 10% for VRBO. A booking was initially created in VRBO for 1 night, with a total price of $160. The guest has requested to add another night to the reservation. Now you need to update the quote in Lodgify and add the mark-up manually.
- Go into the reservation that you want to edit, click on the three dots in the quote box and select Guest makes change request.
-
The quote slider will open up and you add the extra night.
The price will change from $160 to $260 (the price per night is $100 without mark-up or short stay price). - Now go into the price tab, delete the room rate and manually calculate the room rate including the mark-up and short stay price.
The price per night for that night is $100, there is a short stay price of $50 per night if the booking has less than 5 nights and a mark-up of 10%. The additional night should, therefore, be $150 without mark-up and $160 with the 10% mark-up (applied to the room price only). The total of the room rate will, therefore, be $320 (instead of the initially calculated $260).
