Activate and deactivate languages
You can activate or deactivate a language and set a default language for your messages.
🔎 Here’s an example of how it works:
If your guest is a Spanish speaker and Spanish is activated, they will receive the message in Spanish. If Spanish is not activated, they will receive it in the default language.Â
To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to your left-hand menu and select Settings. Now, click Automatic Responses.
- Select Manage languages at the top right of the page:
- You will see 3 recipient types: Guest, Rental Contact, and Account Contact.
For rental and account contacts, the language used is the account language. If you want to change it, you will need to change the language of the account in account settings.
For guests, you can add, remove, and set a default language for messages:
- To add a new language, select Add new language
- To remove a language, click the bin icon
- To set a language as default language, click the star icon
The default language is the language in which messages are sent if the guest's language is not activated.
Translate the content for your scheduled messages and quick replies
If your website supports multiple languages, it’s important to create scheduled messages and quick replies for each language you offer. This ensures that guests receive messages in their preferred language whenever possible.
Default messages are already translated into all languages. However, for new messages, each language version must be created and edited individually, as messages are not automatically translated.
To add a new language version of a scheduled message:
- Save the content of your message in one language.
- In the same response template, select the next language from the Languages selector at the top.
- Repeat this process for each language you want to offer.
How guest language preferences are handled:
- If a guest’s preferred language matches an available message, they will receive that version.
- If a message is not available in the guest’s language, the system defaults to the account’s main language.
- If you only create a response in English, all guests will receive it in English, regardless of their language preference.
