Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer. They are designed to hold a modest amount of data specific to a particular client and website. By law, all websites are required to get consent from visitors to store or retrieve any information on a computer, smartphone or tablet, this is especially important for the new data privacy regulation. Follow this link to learn more about the GDPR and Lodgify. All websites owned in the EU or targeted towards EU citizens are expected to comply with the law. Here you can learn more about the EU Cookie law. You can add a cookie policy to your website by following these steps.

Create a cookie policy page on your website

To include a cookie policy on your website, you should create a specific page e.g. in the footer of your website where you give your website visitors all the information on which cookies are placed on the website and which visitor information they collect. To make it easier for you, we have created a cookie policy template for you which contains a list of all cookies which are automatically integrated on your Lodgify website: Tideway Brooklyn, Livingstone, Capucine.

💡 NoteInside the document accessed through above links, you'll find host names marked in yellow. You must replace these with your website's domain name.

Otherwise, you can use a policy creator to help you create your cookie policy

💡 Note:  If at any point you install external plug-ins or similar, you will need to update the cookie policy accordingly in order to be compliant.

Now, you need to create a page for your cookies policy on your website. Typically, the cookies policy page is put in the footer of your Lodgify website, so that it is always accessible to the visitors of your site. Find out how to create a new page in your footer and then insert your cookies policy in a content widget

💡 NoteThe widget content might need some editing, but you should almost be good to go for the next step to activate the cookie policy pop-up.

Activate the cookie policy pop-up

  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Settings tab, go to Advanced and scroll down to Cookie policy pop up.
  3. Select Show Cookie Policy Page and select the page (e.g. Cookies) that you have created in the above step. The Learn More link (that appears in the cookie policy pop up) will then lead the customer to your cookie policy page.
