Retrieve data from your website

Analyze your visitor's behavior while visiting your website and get data on how they found you to see if your marketing campaigns are working. You can answer all those questions and more by using simple analytical tools such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, mixpanel, or kissmetrics.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics has a standard account which is free and provides you with all the necessary data for your vacation rental business. When creating your free account Google gives you a Tracking ID.

To track your website with Google Analytics:

  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Marketplace.
  2. Click Google Analytics.

Then, follow the instructions on the page:

  1. Sign up for a free Google Analytics account or log in.
  2. Go to Admin and select your property.
  3. Select Tracking ID and copy the code.
    Learn how to find the Tracking ID at the very end of this article.
    The tracking ID will be similar to G-12QBC3456.
  4. Navigate back to the Lodgify marketplace and enable the toggle for the website you would like to track.

  5. Paste the Google Analytics tracking ID.
  6. Then save and publish your website.
  7. If you are trying to create or link your own Google Analytics property, for Google Analytics 4 migration for example, you will get a warning message with two options:
    1) Request access to the Google Analytics configuration on your website
    2) Create a Google Analytics property and set it up on your website
    In this case, always choose the second option to create a new property.

💡 Note: When making the migration from Google Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4, you also have to Publish your Website.
When going to the Conversions tab, you will be able to track the Purchase conversion event.

Segment Segment.com is a single, simple integration that gives you access to 200+ analytics and marketing tools like kissmetrics, mixpanel, Google Ads, and many more.
  1. Create an account with Segment.com.
  2. Add your Lodgify website URL as the “source” in Segment.

  3. A Javascript code will be generated. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner of Lodgify, select Website builder, Edit and Settings.
  4. In the advanced tab, paste the Javascript code in the Header.
  5. Click Save, and publish your website.
💡 Note: Once this is set up correctly, you can connect different apps in Segment. If Segment does not seem to track correctly, it means that your setup in the connected app, e.g. Google Ads, is not done correctly; please contact Google Customer Support directly.

💡 Note: If you decide to use Segment.com for your Google tracking, please be sure to disconnect the direct connection between Google Analytics and Lodgify. Instead, set up Google Analytics through Segment.com.

Specific tracking

You can to track specific data such as how customers behave on your website, how many actually follow through with the booking process. You can also evaluate how successful are your Facebook ads or Google Ads. Here is how to do it:

Entire website If you want to track your customer's actions on your entire website, use the Google Analytics Tracking ID as explained above.
Google Analytics eCommerce tracking

Google Analytics for Ecommerce Tracking allows you to track your current user data and see how it interacts with transactions and revenue information from your Lodgify bookings.
Ecommerce tracking is enabled by default with the "Purchase" event.

Thank you Page If you want to track how many of your website's visitors are actually completing the booking process, follow these steps:
  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Settings tab, go to Advanced and then insert the Google Analytics tracking code (not the Tracking ID) into the field for Booking Engine Confirmation Page - Javascript injection. Then save and publish your website.

Checkout flow If you want to track the whole flow of the booking process, follow these steps:
  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Settings tab, go to Advanced and then insert the Google Tag Manager code into the field for Footer - Custom Javascript. Then save and publish your website.

Facebook ads with your Meta Pixel

The Meta Remarketing Pixel helps you to track visitors who come from your Facebook ad onto your website. Create your Facebook ad and configure the conversion pixel (find out more here). Once you have the pixel code, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Edit tab, click Settings.
  3. Navigate to the Advanced tab and then paste the Meta pixel code in the Header - Custom HTML section.

💡 Note: If you have any difficulties making your Meta Pixel work, try the Meta Pixel Helper to troubleshoot.

Google Ads

Google Ads is Google's paid advertisement service that strategically places ads of your website in related Google searches. Create your Google Ads campaign and check its success by tracking your customer's behavior after clicking the ad. Find out how to create a conversion action for your Google Ads and how to get your conversion tracking tag.
💡 Note: If you have any difficulties setting up Google Ads or creating the conversion tracking tag for the ad, please contact Google's customer support.


Once you have the conversion tracking tag, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Settings tab, go to Advanced and then paste the code into the Footer - Custom Javascript Section.

💡 Note: You can always use Segment.com to track your Google Ads. (If you decide to use Segment.com, please be sure to disconnect the direct connection between Google Analytics and Lodgify. Instead, set up Google Analytics through Segment.com.)

Beyond Pricing

Beyond gives the possibility to add a beacon to your Lodgify website that collects search data.

To do so, go to your Website builder tab, Settings and Advanced.
Add the beacon script in the Footer - Custom Javascript and the Booking Engine Confirmation Page - Javascript injection.

Understand triggers for Google Analytics eCommerce tracking

If you want to specifically track and understand how much revenue you receive via bookings from your website, you need to set up Google Analytics for eCommerce tracking, as described above. Once it is configured correctly, the eCommerce tracking will be executed on the success page of the checkout, and/or the payment page, depending on the payment method and bookability settings. Screenshot_05-27-2020_15.29.27.png

When an event is sent, we always send the total booking value. 

➡ For Instant Bookings: The booking data will be sent during the checkout after the payment confirmation of the 1st payment. The event will not be resent for any subsequent payments.

➡ For Request to Book: The booking data will be sent during the checkout, after confirmation. The event will not be sent in case the payment is sent from the app or after clicking from an email.
