Translate your website

Your website can be created in multiple languages from the beginning or you can create it in one language first and then translate it into other languages. In the vacation rental business, it is really important to meet your guests' needs from all over the world. Find out more on this topic in our blog post on Why you should create a multilingual vacation rental website.

Translate your website content

To have your entire website translated, you need to ensure to translate all the content of your pages as well as the descriptions and details of your rental.

To translate... do the following:
Page content
  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Website builder.
  2. In the Pages tab, select the new language and start translating your page content.
💡 Note: Default descriptions like the page names of default pages will be translated automatically for most languages.Screenshot 2024-05-16 at 12.56.44.png
  3. Select the page you would like to translate from the menu on the left.
  4. You will see that the text has "disappeared" from the Widgets. Start adding the translated text in the new language by clicking on the widgets. For Widgets without text (i.e. Image or Video), you can use the Widget Library to duplicate them in all languages. Find out how to do that
Rental content
  1. Go to your Main Menu in the top left corner and select Rentals.
  2. Select the rental you want to translate and choose Overview.
  3. Now select the language that you want to set up, e.g. Spanish.
Then, click Translate, and choose which language the automatic translation tool should use as the base language, e.g. translate from English to Spanish.Screenshot
💡 Note: Review the automatic translation and correct any errors. Repeat the process for other languages if applicable and all the relevant sections such as your rental agreement, descriptions of how to get to your rental, etc.
System content Some parts of your website content and structure are automatically configured by the system, such as certain rental details (see screenshot). These can be translated by using our Custom Translations tool. Find out more about how it works in this article.2018-10-19_1310.png

💡 Note: When a guest is looking to find a vacation rental like yours, the language that will be shown in Google search depends on 3 different factors.
First, the language of the shown results depends on cookies that store customer-specific information on language preferences for your website.
Secondly, the language settings of your guest's browser can influence the search results.
The last factor can be the location of the guest's IP address.
