How it works
There are two ways to share these activities with your guests. You can use one or both, depending on your setup:
-
The Website Widget: A visual block on your booking confirmation page that shows activities near your rental.
💡 Best for: Hosts with properties in a single city. -
The Smart Referral Links: Trackable links sent via email/SMS (e.g., "Check out things to do in Madrid").
💡 Best for: All hosts, especially those with properties in multiple different cities.
Set up the connection between Lodgify and GetYourGuide
Before you begin, you must have an active GetYourGuide partner account:
- Sign up here to create your partner account.
- Once logged in, locate your Partner ID.
You will find this by clicking your name in the top menu > Account Details.
Example ID: ZWAHXS1 (Keep this handy!).
Once signed up, you will need to configure your direct booking widget and your referral link. Please find instructions below on how to do this.
⚠️ Important: For the direct booking widget, you must use the code provided in this article, not the widget generated from the GetYourGuide website, as it has been modified to work with the Lodgify website builder.
Website Widget
- Go to your left-hand menu and select Website builder.
- In the Settings tab, select Advanced.
- Find the Booking engine confirmation page - Javascript injection section at the bottom of the page.
- You will need to add this code, making sure you update the elements highlighted in red:
<div data-gyg-href="https://widget.getyourguide.com/default/activities.frame" data-gyg-locale-code="en-US" data-gyg-widget="activities" data-gyg-number-of-items="3" data-gyg-cmp="lodgify" data-gyg-partner-id="Partner ID" data-gyg-q="location"></div>-
en-US: By default, the language of the GetYourGuide page that opens is set to English, but you can change it to another language by replacing "en-US" with one of the following codes:
- es-ES for Spanish,
- fr-FR for French,
- it-IT for italian,
- pt-PT for Portuguese,
- de-DE for German.
For example, in Spanish it would be <div data-gyg-href="https://widget.getyourguide.com/default/activities.frame" data-gyg-locale-code="es-ES" data-gyg-widget="activities" data-gyg-number-of-items="3" data-gyg-cmp="lodgify" data-gyg-partner-id="ZWAHXS1" data-gyg-q="Madrid, Spain"></div>
-
Partner ID (e.g., ZWAHXS1): You can find your Affiliate partner ID in your GetYourGuide account by clicking on your name, then Your Account.
- The location: Choose the city in which the activities will be displayed when the GetYourGuide link opens. This can be set in various ways depending on your preference, but it must follow the format “City, Country”, for example: "Madrid, Spain" or "Madrid, España".
Exception: For locations in the USA, the format should be “City, State”, for example: "San Francisco, California".
-
- Then, publish your website to make the changes live.
Smart Referral Link
- In your GetYourGuide account, click Tools in the top menu and then Links.
- You have two options for generating a link to include in your messages:
-
If you want to create a link for a specific city or activity, copy the link from the GetYourGuide website and paste it into the Create a Link section. This will generate a trackable link that you can add to your messages.
- You can also search for a specific attraction or activity within GetYourGuide and generate a trackable link based on your search.
-
- Once your links are created, add them to either your messages so they can be sent to guests after a booking.
💡 Note: If you want to include these links in your OTA communications, make sure to follow their rules explained here, or the links may be removed from your messages.
💡 Pro Tip: Copy the following "Pre-Arrival" email template to your messages to maximize clicks.
Email template
The "Local Expert" Recommendation
- When to send? 3 to 5 days before check-in.
- Why it works? Guests are usually done stressing about flights and accommodation by this point and are looking for fun things to do.
